Sertoma Arts Center is set to host a summer exhibition featuring three distinct showcases across its gallery spaces. The exhibition will run from June 29 through August 27, 2025, and aims to explore themes of memory, architecture, identity, and transformation.
In the Raleigh Room, “Transcendent Expressions” by Cheryl McCardle presents layered paintings created with oil and cold wax. McCardle’s work focuses on the beauty and evolution of time, offering surfaces that resemble natural and manmade erosion and transformation.
The Hall Gallery will feature “STRUCTURE & LIGHT: Architectural Paintings” by Kenneth Eugene Peters. His acrylic paintings depict disappearing buildings with dignity. Influenced by his childhood in transient housing and experiences with neighborhood demolition in Raleigh, Peters’ work captures light and shadow in architectural forms.
Alexandra Zuckerman’s pieces in the Lobby Gallery celebrate routine, intimacy, and queer identity. Her detailed printmaking encourages viewers to appreciate everyday life’s beauty through personal narrative.
Additionally, students of Steve Karloski and Dr. Tim Cherry will display their works in a Handbuilding Showcase also located in the Lobby Gallery. This showcase highlights the diversity of forms achievable through handbuilding techniques.
Visitors can attend this free exhibit at Sertoma Arts Center located at 1400 Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC 27612. The public is invited to meet the artists on August 23.
