TOWN OF WAKE FOREST: NCDOT schedules overnight road resurfacing along Burlington Mills Road

Town of Wake Forest issued the following announcement on Sept. 25.

Work on a Burlington Mills Road resurfacing project will require a series of overnight lane closures over the next two weeks beginning this evening (Monday, Sept. 26).

Weather permitting, ST Wooten., a private contractor working on behalf of NCDOT, will reduce to one lane with intermittent two-way traffic portions of Burlington Mills Road from Forestville Road to Capital Boulevard/US 1 from 7 p.m.-6 a.m. weeknights from September 26-October 5. The lane closures are necessary to allow crews to resurface the roadway.

The contractor is starting work at 7 p.m. each evening to reduce the impact on travelers and make the work safer for crews. The NCDOT is working with the contractor to minimize the amount of noise and light during the paving, and in turn reduce inconvenience to nearby residents. The work will progress along Burlington Mills Road, so crews will not remain in the same area over the course of the project.

Signage and flaggers will be in place to manage traffic flow and safely direct motorists through the work area. Delays are expected, so motorists are encouraged to avoid the area if possible and take an alternate route. Please note: Access to all driveways and parking lots along Burlington Mills will be maintained at all times.

The Town of Wake Forest offers an interactive map that gives residents a user-friendly and convenient way to view local road closures and restrictions. Available at https://bit.ly/WFTrafficMap, the Traffic Alerts Map allows visitors to point and click on current road and lane closures throughout Wake Forest. Motorists are encouraged to use the information to help plan their route and move safely through work areas.
