Want to see the dream homes of today in your backyard? The annual Triangle Parade of Homes is set to start Saturday. It features dwellings in Wake, Durham, Orange and Chatham counties.

The showcase features new construction that people are perceived as wanting these days. The selling point these days is a house offering amenities that let people bring their vacations home.

"People now want to be with their families, and they want to be at home," John Finan, an employee of Partner Exeter Building Co., said in a WTVD report. "They are not traveling as much, so they really want Disneyland at home. So they are putting the pools, the grills, the cabanas."

Most builders are still struggling with low inventory, higher lumber prices and supply chain issues. Still, those challenges haven't stopped builders from putting on the largest open house across central North Carolina.

Times and dates for the parade include noon to 5 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday, as well as Oct. 7-9 and Oct. 14-16.

More than 130 homes will be available for tour in 91 communities with prices ranging from $350,000 to $4 million.

The parade features new home construction to give visitors an idea of what they might want in their next floor plan. They can also explore the latest home technology or outdoor living concepts.

"We've got the perfect climate for it," Connie Allen, head of Design and Build for Raleigh Custom Homes, said in the report. "You can almost enjoy it year-round with the way we do our phantom screens, our heaters, it's a 12-month-out-of-the-year thing."
