The City Council approved an initiative to install digital kiosks in downtown Raleigh during their April 19, 2022 meeting. Agreements were signed between the City, DRA (Downtown Raleigh Alliance), and IKE (Interactive Kiosk Experience) in November 2022. According to the agreements, a network of 15 to 20 kiosks will be installed within the City's right of way. IKE will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of the kiosks, while DRA will manage the informational content.

"We are excited to introduce this new interactive information system for Downtown Raleigh," said the spokesperson from the City Council.

Currently, there are six kiosk sites that are live and open for use. These sites include West & Peace, Glenwood - Ale House, Glenwood - Tin Roof, West & Martin, Wilmington & Martin, and Fayetteville & Martin.

In order to celebrate the launch of this new initiative, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Tuesday, November 14 at 239 Fayetteville Street.

The implementation of these digital kiosks is part of the larger IKE Smart City project. The project aims to enhance the overall experience of downtown Raleigh by providing residents, visitors, and businesses with access to valuable information and services.

"We believe that these kiosks will greatly benefit the community by providing easy access to important information about downtown Raleigh," said the representative from DRA.

The digital kiosks will serve as a one-stop information hub, offering details about local attractions, events, dining options, public transportation, and more. Users will be able to easily navigate through downtown Raleigh with the help of interactive maps and directions provided by the kiosks.

"We are thrilled to be a part of this initiative and to contribute to the development of downtown Raleigh as a smart city," said the representative from IKE.

The City Council and its partners are currently exploring additional locations for the installation of these digital kiosks. The goal is to make them accessible throughout downtown Raleigh, ensuring that everyone can find their way around with ease.

With the new digital kiosks in place, residents, visitors, and businesses can look forward to a more connected and informed downtown experience.
