Raleigh Arts organizations are mobilizing efforts to aid communities affected by Hurricane Helene. Various events and initiatives have been organized to support the relief activities.
The Raleigh Youth Choir will present "Songs of Hope" on November 14 at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium. The concert, featuring nearly 600 young singers from various ensembles around the Triangle area, aims to benefit hurricane relief efforts in Western North Carolina music classrooms. Proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to Notes of Hope, a project under the American Music Education Network.
Arts Together and Dynamic Opportunities have initiated a donation drive to create sensory kits for children impacted by the storm. Opportunity students will transport collected items to Newland Fire Station in Avery County. Donations can be made at Arts Together until November 11, with requested items including fidget toys, allergy-friendly snacks, sound-canceling headphones, coloring books, crayons, soft blankets, mini flashlights, and small stuffed animals.
PineCone is organizing benefit shows and other music-related activities aimed at supporting those affected by the hurricane. More information about these events can be found on their website.
Previously held events include a food drive hosted by Triangle Youth Music on October 13, which raised funds for the Carolina Hurricane Relief Fund. Additionally, Carolina Ballet partnered with Inter-Faith Food Shuttle for donations collected at Fletcher Opera Theater lobby to be distributed across Western North Carolina.
Pullen and Sertoma Arts Center organized a supply drive during the Fall Arts Fair where residents contributed various essential items for relief efforts in Western North Carolina.
Resources are also available for artists and arts organizations affected by Hurricane Helene. Arts NC continues to update its library of resources with funding assistance from the N.C. Arts Council. The N.C. Department of Public Safety has compiled county-by-county relief resources while the N.C. Disaster Relief Fund is accepting contributions for rebuilding efforts in affected areas.
