Mordecai Historic Park is delving into its archaeological background by organizing a series of lectures featuring local experts. These talks will cover various projects at historic sites and cemeteries.

This November, the park will host Melissa Timo, who serves as a Staff Archaeologist and Historic Cemetery Specialist with the North Carolina Office of State Archaeology. She will discuss her work in historic cemeteries across the state, including preservation efforts, challenges faced, and available local resources.

While registration for the event is not mandatory, it is encouraged for those interested in attending. The lecture series promises more sessions in 2025, with dates to be announced later.

The event will take place at Mordecai Historic Park on Saturday, November 23rd, from 1 to 2 p.m. It is open to all ages and free of charge. Attendees can register via RecLink.
