Members of the 2024-2026 Raleigh City Council will be officially sworn into office on Monday, December 2, at Meymandi Concert Hall in the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts. Mayor Mary-Ann Baldwin will commence the meeting as seven council members, including two newly elected officials, take their oaths.

The public is invited to attend the event, which will also be available via livestream on the City's website, YouTube channel, and RTN channel 11.

Raleigh operates under a council-manager form of government. The mayor and seven city council members were elected in November to serve a two-year term. Their first regular meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, December 3 at 1 p.m., and it will also be livestreamed.

The new city council members are Janet Cowell as Mayor; Stormie Denise Forte and Jonathan Lambert-Melton serving At-large; Mitchell Silver representing District A; Megan Patton for District B; Corey Branch for District C; Jane Harrison in District D; and Christina Jones for District E.

The swearing-in ceremony begins at 5 p.m., featuring a drum performance and Land Acknowledgement by the Triangle Native American Society. Free parking is available across from South Street with additional parking in a deck located at Salisbury and South Streets.

Following the program, attendees can enjoy a reception in the venue lobby accompanied by music from members of the North Carolina Symphony.
