The Counselor in Training program aims to equip selected teenagers with the necessary skills and experiences to prepare them for roles as Junior Counselors and Counselors in various youth-serving organizations. The program includes teambuilding, role-playing, and hands-on activities over a week focused on fun and personal growth. Participants are expected to demonstrate a high level of maturity.

Successful applicants will undergo one week of training, followed by a chance to volunteer for 40 hours at one of Raleigh Parks' summer camps. The program involves an application and interview process.

Applications are encouraged early, as only 20 participants will be accepted. The program is scheduled to take place at the Thomas Crowder Woodland Center from June 16-20, running daily from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. It is open to individuals aged 14-16 as of June 15, 2025. The cost is $225 for residents and $240 for non-residents.

Online applications will become available on Friday, December 20. For those seeking a printable application, contact Chiffonda Holloway at chiffonda.holloway@raleighnc.gov.
