The North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles (NCDMV) is set to open a new license plate agency in Southport on February 11. This new facility will be managed by James Mills and located at 4891 Long Beach Rd., S.E., Unit 6, within the Food Lion Shopping Center. The office will operate from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding state holidays.
In North Carolina, while the NCDMV oversees these agencies, they are typically managed by private businesses or local governments. License plate agencies provide various services including vehicle registration and title transactions, as well as renewals for vehicle license plates, replacement tags, handicap placards, and duplicate registrations. Currently, there are 125 such agencies functioning across the state.
Additionally, residents can handle tasks like property tax payments and registration renewals online at MyNCDMV.gov.
