The N.C. Department of Transportation, in collaboration with Blythe Development, is set to commence the N.C. 150 improvement project next week in Catawba and Iredell counties. This six-mile expansion begins near Greenwood Road in Terrell and extends east toward U.S. 21 in Mooresville.

Starting Monday night, contract crews will work between U.S. 21 and Morrison Parkway, focusing on erosion control measures and necessary tree removal. Lane closures are scheduled from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., while other construction activities may proceed during the day without affecting traffic flow.

The project aims to widen N.C. 150 from four to six lanes between Greenwood Road and U.S. 21, construct new bridges at the I-77 interchange and over Lake Norman, upgrade traffic signals, and enhance drainage along the corridor.

A significant aspect of this initiative is the incorporation of reduced conflict intersections designed to simplify traffic movements by minimizing vehicle conflict points. These intersections often eliminate left turns from side roads onto main arteries by using raised medians that direct side road traffic into right turns followed by a dedicated U-turn less than 1,000 feet away for reversing direction. Additionally, a continuous flow intersection will be established at N.C. 150 & Williamson/Bluefield roads.

For updates on the project, individuals can subscribe via email at nc150widening-improvements@publicinput.com or contact the project hotline at 984-205-6615 using code 7128.
