A section of N.C. 33 west of Aurora will be temporarily closed for about 24 hours this weekend, weather permitting. The closure is scheduled from 8 p.m. on February 7 through the following evening. It affects N.C. 33 near N.C. 306 in both directions.

The purpose of the closure is to allow for the relocation of drag line equipment across N.C. 33. To inform the public, signs have been posted and a detour route has been established. Drivers will be redirected to take N.C. 306, N.C. 55, NW 3rd Street/Bay City Road to reach either side of the closure.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution when approaching the detour and to plan ahead due to potentially longer commute times.
