The North Carolina Turnpike Authority is continuing its construction work on the Triangle Expressway extension, also known as Toll N.C. 540, which runs from N.C. 55 Bypass to Interstate 40.

As part of this project, overnight closures are scheduled for two exits. Toll N.C. 540 Westbound Exit 39, which provides access to N.C. 50/Benson Highway, and Toll N.C. 540 Eastbound Exit 43, leading to Old Stage Road, will be closed to traffic during the nights of February 9 through February 10. These closures will occur each night from 10:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. Drivers may face delays and should follow posted detour routes or avoid the area if possible.

For those needing to reach N.C. 50/Benson Highway from Toll N.C. 540 Westbound, the recommended detour involves continuing west on Toll N.C. 540, taking Exit 43 at Old Stage Road, turning right onto Old Stage Road, then right onto Ten Ten Road before proceeding to N.C. 50/Benson Highway.

Drivers heading towards Old Stage Road from Toll N.C. 540 Eastbound should continue east on the toll road, take Exit 39 at N.C. 50/Benson Highway, turn left onto this highway, then left onto Ten Ten Road and continue to Old Stage Road.

Further closures are planned for Toll N.C. 540 Eastbound Exit 39 and Westbound Exit 43 during the nights of February 11 and February 12 with similar timing and detours in place.

For access to N.C. 50/Benson Highway from Toll N.C. 540 Eastbound during these closures, drivers should continue east on the toll road, take Exit 36 at I-40, travel east on I-40 to Exit 312 at N.C.42, turn right onto N.C.42 followed by a right on Cleveland Road before reaching their destination.

Those needing access to Old Stage Road from Toll N.C.540 Westbound should drive west on the toll road to Exit45 at U.S401; turn right onto U.S401 followed by another right onto TenTenRoad before continuing towards OldStageRoad.

These temporary closures depend on weather conditions.
