The UNC Health Championship will take place at Raleigh Country Club from May 28 to 31, drawing thousands of fans and volunteers, according to an April 28 announcement. The event is a key stop on the Korn Ferry Tour and features professional golfers from around the world.

The tournament is significant for both sports fans and the community because it raises funds for local charities and supports healthcare initiatives. This year’s proceeds will help develop North Carolina Children’s, which includes plans for the state’s only freestanding children’s hospital in partnership with Duke Health. The hospital is expected to open in Apex in the early 2030s.

Dr. Cristy Page, CEO of UNC Health, said, “UNC Health is proud to serve as the title sponsor for one of our state’s most exciting sports and charity events. We’re grateful for the team of volunteers and sponsors that help make the tournament a success every year. Our partnership with the Korn Ferry Tour helps support our mission of improving the health and wellbeing of all North Carolinians.”

The championship also benefits several nonprofit organizations such as Poe Center for Health Education, First Tee of the Triangle, SE Raleigh Promise, Alliance Medical Ministry, Wake County Boys and Girls Club, Grayson Murray Foundation, Table – feeding local kids, Note in the Pocket, and USO. An honorary tee time will be held on Sunday afternoon in remembrance of Grayson Murray—a past champion—offering attendees a moment to reflect together.

This year’s competition includes notable golfers with ties to North Carolina: Taylor Dickson from Gastonia; Dylan Menante who played college golf at UNC-Chapel Hill; and Doc Redman from Chapel Hill—all recent winners on tour events this season.

Spectators can expect free parking with shuttle service; free admission for children under fifteen accompanied by adults; special themed days including Collegiate Friday and Service Appreciation Day; as well as food options provided by local vendors like Two Roosters Ice Cream and Empire Eats restaurants. The course itself was designed by Donald Ross and remains a challenging favorite among players.

According to organizers, charity golf over three decades has raised more than $10 million for patients’ programs at UNC Health through this event.
