UNC Health’s interim CEO, Dr. Cristy Page, visited UNC Health Rockingham on Monday alongside Senate leader Phil Berger and hospital CEO Steve Eblin to highlight the organization’s ongoing commitment to health care in Eden and Rockingham County.
During the visit, Dr. Page toured the facility, met with staff members, and discussed the health system’s plans for continued investment in local medical services. “This is a challenging season for health care, but UNC Health is committed to ensuring our hospitals across the state – including UNC Health Rockingham – have what they need to meet their mission. Rural health is a priority of mine and I am honored that I share that priority with Senator Berger,” said Page. “We’re grateful to Senator Berger for visiting our teammates and thanking them for the outstanding care they provide.”
Senator Berger also expressed his support for UNC Health’s role in the community. “Since 2017, when we were on the brink of losing our hospital, UNC Health has been a crucial partner in our community,” Berger said. “I want to thank Dr. Page and the team at UNC Health for continuing to support UNC Health Rockingham and the vital care it provides to our residents. I remain committed to ensuring that UNC Health Rockingham continues to be our local hospital and provides access to care in Eden and Rockingham County for generations to come.”
UNC Health Rockingham operates as a 108-bed community hospital offering inpatient, outpatient, surgical, and emergency services. The hospital also delivers diagnostic testing, treatment options, screenings, and leads wellness programs for local residents. Since acquiring the facility in 2018, UNC Health has expanded its range of healthcare services available in the area.
