Residents of Raleigh have the opportunity to learn essential wilderness navigation skills through an upcoming program at Forest Ridge Park. The course is designed for participants aged 14 and up and will be led by an experienced instructor who will cover the basics of using a map and compass, along with more advanced navigation techniques.
The sessions are scheduled on select Tuesdays and Thursdays—January 15, February 12, March 10, and April 16—from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Organizers advise attendees to bring a water bottle, dress for off-trail hiking, and prepare to spend time outdoors. All necessary equipment will be provided.
The cost for the program is $25 for residents and $40 for non-residents. Registration is available through RecLink.
