The Worthdale Community Center has announced a series of upcoming programs aimed at engaging both older adults and youth in the Raleigh area.

For those aged 55 and older, the center will host Open Play and Card Games every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participants can play classic card games such as Bridge, Poker, and Spades. The sessions are open to all skill levels, with extra decks provided and a welcoming environment for newcomers.

Active adults in the same age group are also invited to join free line dance classes on Mondays from 11 a.m. to noon. These sessions feature easy-to-follow instruction, upbeat music, and dances suited for both beginners and experienced dancers.

For younger participants, Basketball Fundamentals 101 will be offered on Fridays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The class is designed for children ages 6 to 15 who want to learn or improve their basketball skills. The co-ed program covers court vision, movement without the ball, offensive and defensive techniques at game speed, and more. Registration is required through RecLink, with fees set at $26 for residents and $41 for non-residents.

These programs reflect ongoing efforts by local community centers in Raleigh to provide recreational opportunities for various age groups across the city (https://raleighnc.gov/parks).

“We’ll have extra decks, plenty of space, and a relaxed atmosphere that’s perfect for learning new games or showing off your favorite strategies.”

“Let’s get moving, have fun, and meet new friends! Join us every Monday from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. for free line dance sessions designed especially for active adults. Each class offers easy-to-follow instruction, upbeat music, and a mix of classic and modern line dances.”

“Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced dancer, you’ll find the perfect pace to match your skill level.”

“This beginner-to-intermediate class is a great way to start if you are new to the game of basketball. This co-ed class will help players improve court vision, move without the ball, do various cuts, create shots, and read and redirect on offense and defense at game speed.”

Registration details can be found through RecLink.
