The first week of May marks the celebration of International Compost Awareness Week, where the focus is on promoting the benefits of recycling organics and emphasizing the significance of reintroducing organic matter and compost into our soils.
During this week, the Raleigh Yard Waste Center is joining in the observance by offering free organic mulch to visitors. According to a spokesperson, visitors who arrive at the Raleigh Yard Waste Center from May 5 to May 11 can obtain free Leaf Mulch and Organic Mulch upon request. It is important to note that colored mulch, wood mulch, and organic compost are not part of this giveaway. Additionally, individuals do not need to schedule an appointment and can collect a maximum load of 45 cubic yards per visit.
The promotion is inclusive and welcomes both residents and businesses to benefit from the initiative. However, visitors are reminded that they are responsible for the transportation of the mulch product once received.
The Raleigh Yard Waste Center, situated at 900 N. New Hope Road, operates from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays and from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.
