A recent award from the John Rex Endowment will provide $1 million in grants for organizations working for children and families in Wake County.
The grant approvals were discussed in a release on the Endowment’s website in June.
The target of the grants is to assist children and families “to be safe, healthy and living to their full potential,” the organizations said in the release. .
Recipients of the grant funds include Family Promise, Haven House Services, Marbles Kids Museum, TheGifted Arts and Wade Edwards Foundation/WELL.
Each organization was awarded an $80,000 grant, with the applicable period starting on Jan 1, 2021.
The Endowment also awarded two larger grants.
The Kaleidoscope Project will receive $331,436 and Wake County Public Schools was awarded $300,000.
The award to Wake County Schools is for the continuation of the Positive Parenting Program, which trains staff to impart parenting techniques and practices for parents and guardians.
The Kaleidoscope Project grant will go toward, “work to enhance places where children go so that all children grow up nurtured by supportive environments and become adults who benefit from and contribute to healthy communities,” according to the release.
