COUNTY OF WAKE: Identifies COVID-19 Outbreak at Assisted Living Facility in Raleigh

Coronav

County of Wake issued the following announcement on Oct. 16.

Wake County Public Health has confirmed an outbreak of COVID-19 at The Covington, an assisted living and memory care facility located at 4510 Duraleigh Road in Raleigh.

This is the facility’s second outbreak. The previous outbreak occurred in July 2020. No additional information about residents or employees within the facility will be disclosed.

The N.C. Department of Health and Human Services defines an outbreak as two or more people – residents or employees – testing positive for the virus. Because of the possibility for rapid spread of COVID-19 in long-term settings, NCDHHS shares guidance on the steps these facilities should take following an outbreak.
