Roadsignclosed

City of Durham issued the following announcement on Apr. 21.

Roadway Section Closed on April 25 to Traffic Until Construction Completed

On April 25, the City of Durham Public Works Department will begin an emergency construction project to replace a compromised stormwater culvert within the Carpenter Fletcher Road right-of-way between N.C. Hwy. 55 and Loyal Avenue.

This section of Carpenter Fletcher Road will be closed to traffic on April 25 and will remain closed until the construction of the culvert and roadway replacement is complete. The City’s Transportation Department has created a traffic detour via North Bend Drive to Meridian Parkway to N.C. Hwy. 55 (see image below).

Construction of the replacement stormwater culvert and roadway is expected to take approximately 60 days depending upon weather conditions. The cost to reconstruct the culvert and roadway is estimated at $223,000 and will be paid for through Stormwater Capital Improvement Program (CIP) funds.

For more information about this emergency repair project, contact Project Manager Donald Perry with the City's Public Works Department by phone at (919) 560-4326, ext. 30246 or by email.
