Our summer 2023 edition of the Raleigh Fire News is now available!

Here’s a peek at its content:

  • Emergency management is essential in keeping our community safe and minimizing the damage caused by natural and man-made disasters. The primary element in emergency management is prevention: putting into place plans and procedures to help respond quickly and effectively to any emergency. Learn how RFD's new division, led by Assistant Director Satwana Hurdle, focuses on this work.
  • Hear from Chief Herbert Griffin, who answers the question, "What impacts has the global supply chain struggle had on the fire industry?”
  • Lithium-ion batteries have taken the world by storm in recent years; they are the most popular battery storage option today. They power cell phones, iPads, computers, e-bikes, scooters, toys, and even cars. But if these batteries are not used correctly or if they are damaged, a fire or even an explosion can occur. Learn how you can stay safe.
  • See who at RFD recently retired or received a promotion – congratulations! Also, read about a recent retiree luncheon held at the Keeter Training Center.
  • Take a look back at the department’s history.
  • Eat like a firefighter! Check out our new recipe.
