The City of Raleigh is developing an alternative response program where health professionals and/or social workers (and not police officers) would respond to certain 911 calls. The City is offering various opportunities for community involvement in this work within the next several months.
Here’s information about the next few opportunities:
Pop-up event in collaboration with Advance Community Health
Friday, Jan. 19
Time: 9 a.m.- 12 noon

Listening Session 2 in collaboration with the LGBT Center of Raleigh
Tuesday, Jan. 23
Time: 6-7:30 p.m.
Loaction: Raleigh United Mutual Aid Hub, 415 Hillsborough Street, Ste. 101, Raleigh, NC 27603
Pop-up event at Food Lion of New Bern Avenue
Saturday, Jan. 27
Time: 1 – 4 p.m.
Location: 3685 New Bern Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27610

Listening session with Emancipate NC, Feb. 8
Workshop at the Rock Quarry YMCA, Feb. 9

The City and our partners are developing the program to further address the community’s need for crisis prevention and management. We want to build this work in a way that incorporates the input of those who will be impacted most and who will be needed to make successful, long-term change in Raleigh.
