In 2022 and 2023, Raleigh worked with Central Pines Regional Council and eleven other local municipalities to support the Solarize the Triangle project. Hundreds of Raleigh residents signed up for solar assessments through the program and dozens of contracts were signed.
Applications for Solarize the Triangle closed in September 2023, but it has had a huge impact in the region. In Raleigh alone we saw:
- 600.81 kW of new solar energy capacity in Raleigh, producing 835,779 kWh of energy annually
- $108,651 in annual savings for participants
- $1.6 million in clean energy development
Solarize the Triangle is helping Raleigh achieve its greenhouse gas emissions reduction goals, laid out in the Community Climate Action Plan.
