The City of Raleigh recently hosted its inaugural Big Ideas Raleigh Meetup, in collaboration with Raleigh-Durham Startup Week (RDSW) and sponsored by Slalom. The event aimed to foster collaboration, innovation, and strategic planning for Raleigh's growth and development.

During the event, attendees were introduced to the Office of Strategy and Innovation and gained insight into the City of Raleigh's strategic plan. According to Nicole Boyd, Strategy & Design Leader for Slalom Raleigh, the meetup provided "invaluable opportunities for collaboration" and highlighted the importance of strategic decision-making and Raleigh's Innovation Ecosystem.

Boyd expressed Slalom's pride in sponsoring the event and their commitment to supporting future Big Ideas Raleigh Meetups. She emphasized the company's belief in the power of collaboration and innovation to shape Raleigh's future.

Building on the success of the first Meetup, the next event is scheduled for August 8 at The Loading Dock on Beryl Road. This upcoming Meetup will delve deeper into the strategic planning process as the City prepares for Raleigh's Strategic Plan 3.0, set to launch formally in 2025.

Heather McDougall, Senior Manager of Strategy and Innovation, delivered introductory remarks at the Meetup, setting the tone for a collaborative and innovative exchange of ideas. The event featured discussions on the Innovation Ecosystem Wheel, further emphasizing the importance of innovation in shaping Raleigh's future.

The City of Raleigh expressed gratitude to the attendees of the first Meetup and encouraged them to participate in future events to continue shaping the community's future.
