Raleigh students from grades K-12 are being invited to participate in the Micromobility Program’s inaugural art contest. The competition, which runs from Monday, May 13 to Friday, May 31, seeks original artwork that reflects on the theme of sustainable transportation.

To kickstart their creative process, students are given prompts tailored to their grade level. Elementary school students are asked to draw a picture showing how people can navigate the city without harming the Earth. Middle school students are tasked with creating a drawing that illustrates their vision of sustainable transportation. High school students are encouraged to use their creativity to envision a world of eco-friendly mobility.

The requirements for the submitted artwork are clear: it must be 8.5” x 11” in size and two-dimensional. Collages and digital illustrations will be accepted. Each student is allowed one submission and designs should not include company logos, product brands or store names.

There are three options for submitting entries: online via the Micromobility Art Contest page; in-person drop off at Raleigh Municipal Building; or by mail addressed to Micromobility Program, Raleigh Municipal Building. All submissions must be accompanied by a completed consent form.

Eligibility extends to all Raleigh students in grades K-12 whether they attend public, charter or private schools or are homeschooled. Entries will be judged based on creativity, interpretation of the theme, composition and age appropriateness.

Selected artworks will be displayed at bikeshare stations across Raleigh – an exciting opportunity for young artists to influence the future of transportation through their work.
