The Raleigh Police Department is set to commence National Police Week, which runs from May 12-18, with the Wake County Law Enforcement Officer Memorial Ceremony. The ceremony will take place on Monday, May 13, at 10:30 a.m. at Hayes Barton Baptist Church. National Police Week represents a joint effort by several organizations committed to paying tribute to America’s law enforcement community.
The memorial ceremony on May 13 will honor twenty-three fallen law enforcement officers from Wake County. The names of these officers, their respective departments, and their end-of-watch dates are as follows:

Members of the public and media are invited to attend the ceremony in order to honor the sacrifices made by our law enforcement personnel.
Furthermore,in observance of National Police Week,some City of Raleigh facilities are scheduled to be illuminated in blue as a mark of respect for fallen officers.
National Police Week and Peace Officers Memorial Day were first proclaimed by President Kennedy in 1962 as an opportunity to remember and honor law enforcement officers for their service and sacrifices.Peace Officers Memorial Day falls annually on May15,and pays tribute to law enforcement officers who were killed or disabled in the line of duty.
