In celebration of Pride Month, an outdoor event at Lake Johnson is set to bring together the LGBTQ+ community for a day of paddling and camaraderie. The program, which is designed for both novice and seasoned paddlers, aims to highlight the physical and mental health benefits of spending time in nature.

The event will be led by an experienced guide who will not only provide a brief paddling lesson but also discuss common barriers that hinder access to outdoor activities for the LGBTQ+ community. Moreover, participants will learn about opportunities to engage with nature beyond this single event.

This program offers more than just a day on the water. It's an opportunity for participants to build connections within their community while enjoying the serene beauty of Lake Johnson. All necessary equipment will be provided for the event.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, June 15 from 9 to 11 a.m. It is open to individuals aged 14 and above; however, those under 16 must register with an adult. The cost of participation is $22 for residents and $37 for non-residents.

Interested parties can register through RecLink.
