The City has been awarded the 2024 Infinity Award, recognizing its exemplary use of Trimble software in various municipal functions. The award highlights the City's innovative application of technology in planning, designing, building, and maintaining infrastructure.
Trimble e-Builder is utilized extensively within the City to manage projects ranging from small drainage assistance initiatives in the Stormwater department to large-scale undertakings like the East Civic Tower. Approximately 325 users from Engineering Services and Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources (PRCR) rely on e-Builder. This includes external participants such as general contractors, consultants, and architects who play crucial roles in key business processes.
Trimble Cityworks is another integral tool for operating and maintaining city infrastructure. This software supports around 800 regular users across various departments including Engineering Services, Transportation, Stormwater, Solid Waste Services, Raleigh Water, PRCR, and the Convention Center.
As one of Trimble’s significant customers, City employees often assist other clients with best practices and expansion advice. Trimble has also sought input from the City on potential new functionalities for their software.
"We congratulate all the Infinity Award winners on achieving impressive levels of digital innovation and real results that will benefit their communities for generations to come," said Cyndee Hoagland, senior vice president of Trimble's Owner and Public Sector. "These honorees demonstrate that regardless of your organizational size, budget or focus, you can deliver efficiently, affordably and sustainably by connecting data, teams and processes across all phases of the asset lifecycle."
The selection process for the 2024 winners involved a committee of seven Trimble senior managers and executives who used a numeric scoring system based on industry best practices for capital program and infrastructure asset management. To maintain objectivity, multiple rounds of blind scoring were conducted without knowledge of other members' scores. Any committee member with direct ties to a nominated organization was excluded from the process.
City staff recognized at the award ceremony included:
- Engineering Services: Veronica High, Claudia White, Don Hickman, Brian Alford
- Raleigh Water: Howard Hoyle, John Peterson, Ricardo Hernandez
- Information Technology: Peter Sherman, Chad Foley, Chris King
- Transportation: Benjamin Griffin
- Parks Recreation and Cultural Resources: Philip Sullivan
Trimble continues to innovate in positioning technologies that connect digital and physical worlds to enhance productivity, quality, safety, transparency and sustainability.
