For nearly 40 years, the nation has celebrated Park and Recreation Month in July to promote building strong, vibrant, resilient communities through the power of parks and recreation. This month is dedicated to recognizing and celebrating parks.

This year’s theme — “Where You Belong” — highlights how parks foster a sense of belonging in their community by providing welcoming and inclusive programs, essential services for all ages and abilities, and safe, accessible spaces to build meaningful connections.

This July, residents are encouraged to share their 'Where You Belong' moments with Raleigh Parks for a chance to win a park's prize pack. Participants can tell more about where they belong in Raleigh Parks by sharing their favorite spaces and places.

Examples include:

"I belong on Lake Wheeler in a kayak. The water brings me peace."

"I belong on the Neuse River Greenway riding my bike with my partner."

"I belong in the gardens volunteering. Helping serve my community with peers is an important part of my life."
