Habitat for Humanity of Wake County completed their annual Home Builders Blitz from June 13-20, 2024. This year's event took place in Southeast Raleigh near Old Poole Road and New Hope Road. Volunteers from all over Wake County participated in the event and successfully met their goal of building four homes in seven days. This event originated here in Wake County more than 20 years ago and now happens all across the country.

The Home Builders Blitz event received on-call support from City of Raleigh inspectors. They ensured the homes were inspected for plumbing, electrical, and mechanical installations to meet code requirements. Chief Residential Inspector George Read stated, "Inspectors provided building safety inspections and were on call to answer code questions so the builders could meet their deadlines. We look forward to providing our services again next year to help new homeowners enjoy homes that are safe and secure."

Habitat Wake has already built more than 900 homes in Wake and Johnston counties, ensuring families have access to affordable homes that are comfortable, safe, and energy-efficient. Local builders and volunteers worked hard, demonstrating their dedication and skill. This event marked a significant comeback as the first Builders Blitz since 2018 due to a break caused by the pandemic. The Home Builders Blitz helped establish strong neighborhoods that give people a place they can call home.
