Meteorologists are forecasting that the heat index is expected to reach 110 degrees this week. Authorities are urging residents to take necessary precautions to stay safe during this period of extreme heat.
"High temperatures can be dangerous, especially for vulnerable populations such as the elderly and young children," said Dr. Maria Gonzalez, a local health official. "It's important to stay hydrated and avoid strenuous outdoor activities during peak heat hours."
Local cooling centers have been set up across the city to provide relief for those without access to air conditioning. "If you need a place to stay cool, please visit one of our designated cooling centers," advised Mayor John Smith.
Residents are also reminded to put their curbside carts out by 6 a.m. on collection days to ensure timely service despite the high temperatures.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates as necessary.
