The LGBTQIA+ Historic Context Phase II kickoff meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 23 at 7 p.m. at the Halifax Community Center (1023 Halifax St). This event will provide an opportunity for the community to meet the new project consultant, receive updates on the project, and share stories about significant locations where LGBTQIA+ individuals gathered, met, celebrated, loved, and lived.

An online survey is currently available for community members to participate in. The survey allows participants to:

- Identify their top five places in each site type for future research focus.

- Rank preferred methods of recognizing historic places beyond traditional designations.

- Share ideas on other ways to celebrate these important spaces.

The survey will close on Sunday, August 4 at 11:59 p.m.

Phase II aims to expand upon the research and roster of historic places developed during Phase I. A final report is expected by the end of 2024. Appreciation is extended to those who have followed Phase I's progress, attended community meetings, and participated in online surveys.
