The Raleigh Planning Academy is inviting residents to participate in its upcoming sessions, designed for those who are passionate about their community. Whether you have been involved in your neighborhood for years or are a new resident, the academy aims to provide a deeper understanding of the role planning plays in building communities and educate participants on how and when they can be involved in planning processes.
"We aim to empower residents on the best ways to navigate the complex world of land development and community planning," said a spokesperson for the academy. Participants will learn best practices for engaging with staff and their neighbors on rezoning and large-scale projects in their neighborhoods.
The Fall 2024 course will take place from October to November, consisting of five weekly sessions held on Wednesdays: October 9, 16, 23, 30, and November 6 from 6-8 p.m. The location for the next Planning Academy will be shared by email once participant attendance is confirmed.
To ensure diversity among participants, priority may be given to those living in specific geographic areas, renters using their primary residence, or individuals with experience advocating for under-invested communities. Interested individuals should complete the online form by Sunday, September 15 at 11:59 p.m. Only 25 participants will be selected for each course.
