Join us as Ernest Dollar takes us on a journey through the past, visiting the locations featured in his book, "Hearts Torn Asunder." Dollar skillfully recounts the experiences of the men, women, and children who endured intense emotional, physical, and moral stress during the dramatic climax of the Civil War.

After the armies left North Carolina following the surrender, these stories faded with each passing year. Neither side looked back, believing there was little honor to celebrate. "Hearts Torn Asunder" vividly captures, on a deeply personal level, what happened during those final days—events that created such painful memories that few wanted to commemorate them, yet none could forget.

Author-guided tours will take place at City of Raleigh Museum in Raleigh, Morrisville Town Hall, Bennett Place State Historic Site, and Alliance for Historic Hillsborough.
