The Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources department has announced Abigail (Abby) Kellerman as the new Director of the City of Raleigh Museum. Kellerman holds a BA in History and Art History from Duquesne University and an MA in Public History with a concentration in Museum Studies from NC State University. She previously served as the Assistant Director at Historic Oak View.

Kellerman is now the second Director of the City of Raleigh Museum since the City assumed management in 2012. In her new role, she will oversee all day-to-day programs and operations for the COR Museum, as well as manage the Dr. M.T. Pope House Museum. She succeeds Ernest Dollar, who was recently promoted to Section Head for Museums within Raleigh’s Historic Resources and Museums Program.

The Raleigh City Council established the Historic Resources and Museum Program to protect and program cultural, museum, and historic resources within the city. This includes managing sites such as Borden Building and Stone Circle at Fletcher Park, Dr. M.T. Pope House Museum, Fred Fletcher Amphitheater at Fletcher Park, John Chavis Memorial Park Carousel – Conservation and Heritage Plaza, John P. “Top” Greene Community Center, Latta University Historic Park, Moore Square, Mordecai Historic Park, Pope House Museum, Pullen Park Historic Attractions, Raleigh Trolleys, and Tucker House. The HRM Program also oversees an artifact collection comprising more than 30,000 objects of material culture.
