The Chicago Wolves announced on Tuesday that Bryce Montgomery, a defenseman signed by the Carolina Hurricanes, has been loaned to the Bloomington Bison in the ECHL.
Montgomery, 21, recently made his debut in the American Hockey League, playing two games against the Milwaukee Admirals and registering one shot on goal. Before being recalled, he had played two games with Bloomington at the start of their season, where he scored the first regular-season goal in franchise history.
Originally from Washington D.C., Montgomery was selected by the Hurricanes in the sixth round as the 121st overall pick during the 2021 NHL Draft. In the previous season (2023-24), he played for South Carolina in the ECHL and accumulated a total of 12 points from four goals and eight assists over 42 games.
Bloomington currently holds a record of 1-2-0-1 and is preparing for three upcoming road games within four days against teams such as Iowa Heartlanders, Cincinnati Cyclones, and Wheeling Nailers.
"It's pretty funny knowing that's me, and it's a cool little stat," said Montgomery about scoring Bloomington's first franchise goal.
