Eric Tulsky, the General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, has announced that goaltender Frederik Andersen will undergo knee surgery this Friday. The procedure is expected to sideline Andersen for a period ranging from eight to twelve weeks.
Andersen, aged 35, has played four games for the Hurricanes this season, achieving a record of 3-1-0 with a goals-against average of 1.48 and a save percentage of .941. Last season, he participated in 16 games and recorded a 13-2-0 record with a goals-against average of 1.84 and a save percentage of .932.
Originally from Herning, Denmark, Andersen was selected by Anaheim as their third-round pick in the 2012 NHL Draft. Throughout his career, he has appeared in 499 NHL games playing for teams such as the Ducks, Toronto Maple Leafs, and currently the Hurricanes. His career statistics include a record of 298-128-52 with an average goals-against rate of 2.55 and a save percentage of .916.
