The John P. Top Greene Community Center is hosting Museum Mornings this February, in honor of Black History Month and the rich history of East Raleigh's South Park neighborhood. The event will take place every Friday morning throughout the month.

Attendees will be treated to a complimentary cup of coffee while engaging in cultural discussions centered around the museum's exhibition stories. This year's program features a special emphasis on "Centuries in the Making," an exhibit developed in partnership with the South Park-East Raleigh Neighborhood Association (SPERNA). The exhibit explores the historical importance of East Raleigh-South Park, one of Raleigh's oldest African American communities, highlighting its lasting impact on the city's cultural and civic identity.

The "Centuries in the Making" exhibit showcases East Raleigh-South Park's spirit through photographs, artifacts, and personal narratives. Visitors can learn about the neighborhood's legacy and its influence on Raleigh's history.

Nadia Marriott, Manager of the John P. Top Greene Community Center, expressed pride in celebrating Black History Month by recognizing both national African American experiences and local stories that have shaped East Raleigh-South Park. She stated, "Museum Mornings create a welcoming space for meaningful discussions and reflection, while our partnership with SPERNA brings the incredible legacy of this community to life."

Museum Mornings are scheduled at the John P. Top Greene Community Center from 11 a.m. to noon every Friday from February 7 to February 28. The event is free for all ages and does not require registration.
