Raleigh Parks is hosting a series of activities in February to celebrate American Heart Month. These events aim to promote heart health through fitness classes, nutrition workshops, and educational tours.

The fitness classes will take place at Glen Eden Park, led by experienced instructors. "Low-Impact Cardio with Amanda" will feature fun moves set to Taylor Swift's Red album. "Bootcamp with Alexis" promises a full-body workout suitable for all fitness levels. "WARRIOR Strength with Le" focuses on high-intensity interval training and weight training.

In addition to the fitness classes, an interactive nutrition workshop will be held at Jaycee Park Community Center on February 5. Experts from Wake Cooperative Extension will provide practical tips for making heart-healthy meal choices.

Raleigh Parks has also partnered with Lidl, Walmart Supercenter, and experts from the Poe Health Education Center and WakeMed Hospital for guided grocery store tours titled "Smart Shopping for Heart Health." Participants will learn how to identify heart-healthy items and plan balanced meals.

For gardening enthusiasts, the "Plant Your Heart Out" workshop at Barwell Community Center offers an opportunity to create container gardens with heart-healthy herbs and plants.

Space is limited for some activities, so early registration is encouraged. For more information or to register, contact Health and Wellness Programs at prcrhealthandwellness@raleighnc.gov or call 919-996-2767 or 919-996-2771.
