The City of Raleigh's Transportation Department is organizing a series of five public meetings from January through March to gather community feedback on transportation safety. These meetings are part of the Safe Streets for All (SS4A) initiative, which aims to eliminate serious injuries and fatalities from traffic accidents by 2045. The plan also seeks to enhance the safety, fairness, and accessibility of the city's transportation system.
Residents are encouraged to attend one of these meetings to contribute their ideas on improving transportation safety in Raleigh. The schedule for the public meetings is as follows:
- Tuesday, January 28; 4:30 – 7 p.m. at Barwell Road Community Center (District C), located at 5857 Barwell Park Drive.
- Wednesday, February 5; 4:30 – 7 p.m. at Green Road Community Center (District A), located at 4201 Green Road.
- Monday, February 17; 4:30 – 7 p.m. at Carolina Pines Community Center (District D), located at 2305 Lake Wheeler Rd.
- Tuesday, February 25; 4:30 – 7 p.m. at Laurel Hills Community Center (District E), located at 3808 Edwards Mill Road.
- Wednesday, March 5; 4:30 – 7 p.m. at Abbotts Creek Community Center (District B), located at 9950 Durant Road.
In addition to discussing transportation safety, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with representatives from various city departments including Raleigh Parking, Mobility Strategy & Infrastructure, Traffic Engineering and Vision Zero, GoRaleigh/Transit, Street Maintenance, Housing & Neighborhoods, Parks/Greenways and the Raleigh Police Department.
While residents can attend any meeting regardless of their district, each district hosts a meeting to ensure equal access for all citizens. To find out which district you belong to, visit the "Find Your Services" section on the RaleighNC.gov homepage.
