The City of Raleigh has introduced a new public Wi-Fi service at City Plaza, aiming to enhance downtown activity and support local businesses. The free service, named “Raleigh Public Wifi,” is designed to make navigating maps, booking rides, making reservations, and purchasing event tickets more convenient for users.
To connect to the Wi-Fi network, visitors should select the “Raleigh Public Wifi” option on their devices and complete the required fields on the Terms and Conditions page.
City Chief Information Officer Mark Wittenburg commented on the initiative, stating: “Providing public Wi-Fi supports downtown Raleigh revitalization efforts by keeping visitors connected and engaged.” He emphasized that it aids local businesses by enabling digital transactions, navigation, and marketing opportunities while advancing economic growth and digital initiatives in line with the City’s strategic goals.
Wittenburg also noted that investing in smart infrastructure helps create a more vibrant and innovative experience for both residents and visitors.
Users are reminded to exercise caution when using public Wi-Fi networks by avoiding access to sensitive accounts or entering personal information due to potential cyber threats.
