Governor Josh Stein has issued a reminder to North Carolinians affected by Hurricane Helene about upcoming deadlines for federal support applications. This includes assistance for individuals and small businesses as they continue their recovery efforts.

"As folks across western North Carolina continue to rebuild their lives and businesses after Hurricane Helene, it's important to know what resources are available to support recovery," said Governor Josh Stein. "Thousands of western North Carolinians have already taken advantage of these federal resources, but there is still time to apply. I encourage everyone to get the assistance they need from these programs."

The key deadlines are as follows:

- March 8, 2025: The deadline for FEMA Individual Assistance for disaster survivors affected by Tropical Storm Helene. Applications can be submitted online at disasterassistance.gov, via phone at 1-800-621-3362, or through the FEMA app.

- March 10, 2025: The extended deadline for Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) in 39 North Carolina counties and for the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. This extension aligns with Federal Emergency Management Agency deadlines.

- March 29, 2025: The expiration date for DUA benefits.

- April 27, 2025: Extended physical damage loan deadline by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) due to the federal funding lapse in 2024.

- June 30, 2025: Deadline for returning economic injury applications to the SBA.

Affected individuals can apply through various channels including visiting a Disaster Recovery Center or accessing online platforms such as DisasterAssistance.gov. Additional information is available through specific contact numbers provided by relevant agencies.
