The Carolina Hurricanes are set to face the Detroit Red Wings on Friday, March 14, in Raleigh. The game will commence at 7:00 p.m. ET and can be viewed on FanDuel Sports Network South or listened to via 99.9 The Fan and the Hurricanes App.

The Hurricanes aim to extend their current winning streak to six games. They have a record of 39-22-4, placing them second in the Metropolitan Division with 82 points. In their last outing, they secured a decisive 4-1 victory against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday.

Detroit enters this matchup with a record of 31-28-6, tying for sixth place in the Atlantic Division with 68 points. Their recent performance saw them break a six-game losing streak by defeating the Buffalo Sabres 7-3 on Wednesday.

Hurricanes goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov was instrumental in their win over Tampa Bay, saving 23 out of 24 shots and marking his single-season best with his 24th win. Seth Jarvis scored his third consecutive goal during that game, leading his team with his season total reaching 26 goals.

Frederik Andersen is expected to start as goalie for the Hurricanes tonight if the rotation continues as planned. Andersen has shown strong performances against Detroit historically, holding a .926 save percentage and three shutouts over fourteen games.

For Detroit, Patrick Kane has been pivotal since joining earlier this year, scoring five points in their latest game against Buffalo. Former Hurricane Petr Mrazek debuted for Detroit after being traded from Chicago and played a key role in securing their recent win.

In terms of injuries for Carolina, Andrei Svechnikov remains doubtful due to an undisclosed injury suffered last Sunday against Winnipeg. Dmitry Orlov is still recovering from an upper-body injury while William Carrier is sidelined due to a lower-body injury sustained earlier this year. Jesper Fast will miss the entire season following an announcement made last August.

After facing Detroit tonight, Carolina will travel to Philadelphia for another game scheduled on Saturday before returning home later this month.
