Approximately 1,000 Duke Energy customers in West Terre Haute, Indiana, are set to benefit from a free home energy makeover provided by Duke Energy. This initiative is part of the company's Neighborhood Energy Saver Program.

Qualifying customers will receive a free home energy assessment along with the installation of up to 16 energy-saving improvements at no cost. These improvements include energy-efficient lightbulbs, water-saving showerheads and faucet aerators, air conditioning/heating system filters, water heater wraps/pipe wrap, caulking, weatherstripping, and door sweeps.

Rick Burger, Duke Energy's Government and Community Relations Manager, stated: “The Neighborhood Energy Saver Program is a great way for us to help our customers save energy, save money and improve their quality of life.” He added that beyond the physical improvements made to homes, customers would also gain knowledge on how to manage their energy costs through efficient habits.

The program specifically targets neighborhoods using federal and state guidelines in addition to U.S. census data. Dave Elkins, president of the West Vigo Community Center commented: "This is a great opportunity for residents to save money and improve the energy efficiency of their homes. We are excited that Duke Energy is offering this program to residents."

In the previous year alone, nearly 1,500 Duke Energy Indiana customers received upgrades through this program. The installations included over 1,000 heating ventilation and air conditioning filters, nearly 1,000 low-flow showerheads, and more than 11,000 LED lightbulbs.

Since its inception in March 2015, the Neighborhood Energy Saver Program has reached over 12,000 households across Indiana.

Duke Energy Indiana operates as a subsidiary of Duke Energy and provides approximately 6,300 megawatts of electric capacity to about 910,000 customers within a service area covering 23,000 square miles. This makes it Indiana’s largest electric supplier.
