Apex Community Park (all the way to the back past the tennis Courts) in Apex, NC

Cary Morrisville Region Meeting

Tuesday May 19 at 5:30pm

Come for as long as you wish;

Where: Apex Community Park, large shelter Apex Community Park, 2200 Laura Duncan Road;

Agenda: it's our Constitutional Right to meet and gather, even to shoot the breeze. However, we will meet to reintroduce ourselves, to regain a sense of community, and to discuss our future activities.Please realize that Town of Apex is not open and will not rent us the facility. Nonetheless the facility is open and we are all taxpayers in Wake County. If a fellow citizen calls the police on us, we will calmly explain that we have a constitutional right to meet, and our Governor invited us to meet outdoors. If they kick us out from the shelter, we will all walk to another spot.

Governor Cooper's Exceutive Order 138. "Phase 1" https://files.nc.gov/governor/documents/files/EO138-Phase-1.pdfThe Executive Order prohibits "mass gatherings" (defined as gatherings of more than 10 people) but makes the exception for worship and for the exercise of First Amendment Rights. The executive Order also invites us to take the meeting outdoor if possible. (please read the excerpt below, as well as find the entire Executive Order at the link above.)It goes without saying, but do take your own precautions that you are comfortable with. If you wish to wear a mask, please do so. if you wish to observe the 6 ft distancing, please do so as well. So we can say that we were all warned, please wash your hands,  sneeze in your elbow, and do consider joining us another day if you are feeling sick that day.  If you'd rather do an elbow shake than a hug or a hand shake, please do so. Section 6. Mass Gatherings Prohibited. A. Prohibition. Mass Gatherings are prohibited. ''Mass Gathering" means an event or convening that brings together more than ten ( 10) persons at the same time in a single space, such as an auditorium, stadium, arena, conference room, meeting hall, or any other confined indoor or outdoor space. This includes parades, fairs, and festivals. Mass Gatherings do not include gatherings for health and safety, to look for and obtain goods and services, for work, for worship, or exercise of First Amendment rights, or for receiving governmental services. A Mass Gathering does not include normal operations at airports, bus and train stations or stops, medical facilities, shopping malls, and shopping centers. However, in these settings, people must follow the Recommendations to Promote Social Distancing and Reduce Transmission as much as possible, and they should circulate within the space so that there is no sustained contact between people. B. Dividing one event or convening into multiple sessions. Nothing in this Executive Order prohibits holding several events or convenings instead of-one so that at any time, no more than ten ( 10) people are gathered in the same space. Organizations that need to hold events or convenings in a single space are encouraged to hold multiple sessions so that no more than ten (10) people are present at a time. In addition, nothing in this Executive Order prohibits holding meetings remotely, and all people in North Carolina are encouraged to hold gatherings electronically so that large groups can meet. C. Outdoor meetings if possible. Because the risk of COVID-19 spread is much greater in an indoor setting, any gatherings of more than ten ( 10) people that are allowed under Subsection 6(A) shall take place outdoors unless impossible.
