Continue the tradition of Leadership Raleigh
The John Freehafer Leadership Raleigh Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to local small businesses, nonprofits, and minority owned businesses to support their leadership journey. Now more than ever, during the global pandemic, these businesses need your support. Contributions to this fund will continue to enhance Leadership Raleigh's commitment to capture the diversity of the community through the program's participants.
Since 2007, The John Freehafer Scholarship Fund has awarded more than $48,000 in scholarships, and in the past two years, the fund has provided 19 scholarships to support individuals in the program. Join us in continuing support for the Greater Raleigh Chamber’s Leadership Raleigh program!
John Freehafer Scholarship Fund
In 2007, the Leadership Raleigh Alumni Board voted to create the John Freehafer Scholarship Fund. John Freehafer was a graduate of Leadership Raleigh 17 and met his wife, Deb, during the program. He was the proud father of Grayson, an alumni of UNC, and a season ticket holder for the Carolina Hurricanes. John loved all sports and was a huge champion for local athletics. He led a purposeful life and was committed to many organizations, including the American Diabetes Association Leadership Council, Boys & Girls Club – Breakfast of Champions, Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce (chair of the Sports Council at the time of his death), Prison Match, and Hayes Barton Baptist Church.
