Bailey Manufacturing Company, a producer of stamped metal automotive parts, has decided to expand its operations by establishing a new production facility in Laurinburg, Scotland County. Governor Josh Stein announced the investment, stating that BMC will create 35 new jobs and invest over $4.3 million in the facility.

Governor Stein expressed optimism about North Carolina's manufacturing prospects, highlighting the state's appeal to businesses from various sectors. "Bailey Manufacturing's decision to locate to Scotland County is more proof that North Carolina is a top state for businesses across all industries," said Governor Stein. He emphasized the state's commitment to manufacturing and innovation.

BMC is based in New York and supplies components for the automotive industry, serving major clients like General Motors. The company has a global reach, with its products shipped to countries such as Mexico, China, and South Africa. The new facility in Laurinburg will have an area of 50,000 square feet, effectively doubling BMC's production capacity while expanding its manufacturing, warehousing, and administrative capacities.

John Hines, President of Bailey Manufacturing Company, spoke about the expansion. "Bailey Manufacturing is excited to join the growing list of automotive suppliers in North Carolina," he stated. Hines appreciated the support from local entities and expressed optimism for the company's future in Laurinburg.

N.C. Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley described BMC as a valuable addition to the state’s automotive supply sector, which boasts over 250 manufacturers. "North Carolina is home to 20 of the top global OEM suppliers," Lilley noted, mentioning the significant transportation network available for moving parts globally.

The new positions at BMC will average an annual salary of $52,000, surpassing the current average wage in Scotland County. This development is expected to boost the regional economy significantly, with a projected annual payroll impact of over $1.8 million.

Bailey Manufacturing's move to North Carolina is supported by a $120,000 performance-based grant from the One North Carolina Fund. This fund aims to encourage economic investment and job creation, with payments contingent upon the company meeting specific job creation and investment goals.

Local leaders, including Senator Danny Earl Britt and Representative Garland E. Pierce, welcomed BMC to Scotland County, viewing the company's decision as validation of the area's favorable environment for business growth.

The project's key partners include various state and local agencies, such as the North Carolina Department of Commerce, the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, and several educational and government institutions. Their collaboration was instrumental in facilitating BMC's expansion into Laurinburg.
