After a successful pilot program, the City of Raleigh’s popular social district is about to reach a larger audience. In place since August of 2022, Sip n' Stroll Downtown allows people to drink beer, wine, or cocktails as they walk through a defined area of downtown Raleigh. On May 16, the City Council voted to expand the boundaries to include more of the Warehouse District and portions of the Capital District up to Hillsborough Street.
The changes will take effect Aug. 15.
Here’s what you can expect:
- More areas where you can carry your to-go beverage and more establishments that can opt-in to participate;
- Change in hours - Sip n’ Stroll will start an hour earlier, with operating hours of 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days per week;
- New permanent signs throughout the social district area; and
- New permanent trash and recycling receptacles.
