We are excited to announce that the City of Raleigh is moving a portion of its fleet to run on renewable propane. Nearly half of the City’s total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions come from transportation, and reducing vehicle emissions is a critical part of our climate action strategy. Raleigh is mapping out a “clean transportation” future that involves transitioning from fossil fuels to cleaner alternatives like electric vehicles and renewable propane.
We invited the public to celebrate this significant step in achieving the City’s Community Climate Action Plan during a ribbon cutting ceremony held on Thursday, Sept. 28, at the Westinghouse Road fueling station. Josh Powell, a Producer for CW22 TV put together this video with highlights from the event.
This event was a excellent opportunity for us to highlight some of the vehicles that use renewable propane and the other electric and clean energy vehicles in our fleet.
Vehicle Fleet Services, the Office of Sustainability, and Raleigh Arts also recently unveiled a “Clean Energy Mural” to raise awareness about our clean energy transition. This mural was also highlighted at the event, and the artist was there to talk about his work.
The Propane Education & Research Council, Blossman Gas & Appliance, Southeast Propane Alliance (SEPA), and Triangle Clean Cities helped sponsor the celebration.
