Ever since Israel claimed its independence back in 1948, the country has faced continuous opposition from Middle Eastern countries. Congressman Greg Murphy expressed his thoughts on the matter, stating, "For thousands of years, brutal and hateful leaders in the Middle East have desired to destroy the Jewish people. For the last 75, they’ve plotted the extinction of the State of Israel. Yet when Israel retaliates, they cry victim. Rinse and repeat."
Currently, Israel is facing a brutal attack by the Hamas group, with other Middle Eastern groups getting involved as well. The Lebanese militant group Hezbollah has touched the northern border of Israel, causing further concerns. Additionally, the Hamas group continues to launch attacks from the Gaza Strip. American Naval assets have been deployed in the eastern Mediterranean in response to the escalating conflict. The situation remains volatile, and there are fears that Iran could push these groups to further intensify the war. In such a scenario, Hezbollah would have an advantage over Hamas.
The attack by Hamas caught many by surprise, including Israel. However, it was revealed that Hamas had warned of the possibility of an attack about a month prior. In late August, the second-hand leader of Hamas, Saleh al-Arouri, stated in an interview with a Lebanese news channel that preparations for the war were underway. Hamas and Hezbollah have been cooperating to pursue this war against Israel, and now Iran has joined the conflict, creating a joint effort.
Israel is known to have the most powerful army in the Middle East, making the success of the Hamas attack a shock to many. Hamas had deliberately kept its military plans under the radar to give the impression that they were not seeking war. Meanwhile, Middle Eastern countries focused on their economies to convey that they were not interested in conflict. In reality, these nations were secretly preparing for the war.
The ongoing conflict in Israel serves as a reminder of the continuous opposition and threats faced by the country from Middle Eastern leaders. Israel's resilience and determination in defending its independence and security remain crucial in the face of these challenges.
